Your Mission: The Role of a Hindi Creative Copywriter

As a Freelance Hindi Creative Copywriter with Small World Studio, you will be the linguistic and cultural custodian for some of the most prominent global entertainment brands. Your primary purpose is to ensure that the magic of Hindi films, TV series, and other entertainment programs is not lost in translation but is instead magnificently adapted for English-speaking audiences, and vice-versa.

You will be the creative force ensuring that marketing campaigns, synopses, character descriptions, and promotional materials are not just accurate, but are compelling, emotionally resonant, and culturally relevant. You will work hand-in-hand with our Integrated Producers, Creative Director, and in-house Linguistic Teams, acting as a vital link between the original creative vision and its global audience.

A Day in the Life: Your Key Responsibilities

Your role will be diverse, challenging, and immensely creative. Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Creative Transcreation: Go beyond direct translation. You will creatively adapt slogans, taglines, social media content, and video scripts from Hindi to English (and sometimes English to Hindi), capturing the essence, emotion, and brand voice.
  • Content Editing & Adaptation: Meticulously review and edit adaptations of film and TV content, including plot summaries, character bios, and promotional copy, ensuring they are engaging and free of errors.
  • Cultural Consultation: Serve as an expert on Hindi and American/British English cultures. You will provide crucial insights on nuances, idioms, humor, and social references to ensure content is appropriate and impactful for the target market.
  • Collaborative Creative Development: Work closely with designers and art directors, providing linguistic input that complements visual elements to create a cohesive and powerful final product.
  • Quality Assurance & Attention to Detail: Maintain the highest standards of quality, ensuring every piece of copy is polished, accurate, and aligns with the client’s brand guidelines and the project’s creative brief.
  • Client & Team Collaboration: Engage with international teams across different time zones, effectively communicating ideas and incorporating feedback in a professional and timely manner.

Are You the One? The Ideal Candidate Profile

We are looking for more than just a writer; we are looking for a creative partner. The ideal candidate is:

  • A Storyteller at Heart: You are well-versed in the creative advertising arena and have an insatiable passion for Hindi Films, TV, and Entertainment.
  • Flexible & Agile: You thrive in a dynamic environment, can pivot quickly, and are an expert at prioritizing multiple projects without sacrificing quality.
  • A Collaborative Spirit: You believe the best work is born from teamwork. You have a “can-do” attitude and are always striving for collective improvement.
  • Client-Focused: You are comfortable with client-facing interactions and understand how to navigate feedback and build strong professional relationships.
  • Deadline-Oriented: You are renowned for your reliability and have a proven track record of never missing a deadline, even under pressure.
  • Receptive & Professional: You have the humility to respect and incorporate feedback, viewing it as an opportunity for growth.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q1: Is this a full-time, permanent role?
A1: No, this is specifically a freelance, contract position. It is designed to offer maximum flexibility for top-tier creative talent who may be working on other projects.

Q2: The job title mentions “Copyeditor,” but the description emphasizes “Copywriter” and “Transcreation.” Which is it?
A2: This is a hybrid role. While “copyediting” for accuracy is a fundamental part of the job, the core of this position is creative transcreation and copywriting. We are looking for someone who can create and adapt compelling content, not just correct it.

Q3: I live in India. Is that a problem for working with US-based teams?
A3: Not at all! We are a globally distributed team. We are actively seeking talent based in both India and the US. Your ability to manage your time and meet deadlines is more important than your physical location.

Q4: What kind of projects will I be working on?
A4: You will be working on high-profile global brands within the film, TV, and entertainment sector. Projects can range from adapting marketing campaigns for a new Hindi series launching globally, to transcreating social media content for a major streaming platform, to editing subtitles and promotional materials.

Q5: How is the pay rate determined within the $18-$38 range?
A5: The rate is determined based on your years of experience, the depth and relevance of your portfolio, the complexity of the projects you are assigned, and your performance during the skills assessment.

Q6: Do I need my own equipment and software?
A6: Yes, as a freelancer, you are expected to have a reliable computer, a high-speed internet connection, and standard office software. Access to specific project management and content delivery platforms will be provided by RWS.
